Artist's Description

This is the Umqua River Lighthouse located at the mouth of the Umqua River on Winchester Bay in Douglas County, Oregon.
When we visited this lighthouse, it was under renovation so was closed off with fencing. I used a wide angle lens and stood right at the base of the lighthouse to take this image. The clouds were wonderful at the top of the lighthouse with a little bit of the blue sky showing behind them.
I would like to go back to this lighthouse for another visit because it is one lighthouse that you can climb to the top. I don't know that I would be up for that climb but I would love to get an image of the spiral staircase.
